‘Change Your Mind Festival’ celebrates successful mental health event at Hawk's Well Theatre Sligo

A one day, free Mental Health Promotion event organised by HSE Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services entitled ‘Change Your Mind Festival’ took place on October 15th to great acclaim. With over 2000 attendees, the festival brought together individuals, experts, and communities at the Hawk's Well Theatre in Sligo for a day dedicated to de-stigmatising mental health and promoting overall wellbeing.

Attendees and guest speakers, including the President of the Irish College of Psychiatrists, shared valuable insights and perspectives on mental health. Throughout the day, attendees were treated to a series of engaging sessions aimed at enhancing mental health and wellbeing. Acclaimed comedian PJ Gallagher, popular podcasters Dean & Mano, Jay from RTE Junior, and a magician provided entertainment and thought-provoking discussions on mental health topics. Interactive fitness, wellbeing, and mindfulness sessions added to the festival's unique blend of entertainment and education. The festival offered a diverse range of activities and entertainment, ensuring a rich and engaging experience for all attendees.

Organiser, Hugh Slevin, HSE CH CDLMS Mental Health Clinical Nurse Manager 2 said "This year's Change Your Mind Festival was a resounding success. It provided a safe and inclusive space for individuals and families to openly discuss mental health while enjoying a diverse array of entertainment and activities. By breaking down barriers, promoting dialogue, and a successful way to fight the stigma in mental health.”

The fascinating lineup of sessions and performances captivated attendees of all ages, sparking important conversations and fostering a greater understanding of mental health issues. The Change Your Mind Festival showcased the power of community in creating positive change and offered practical strategies for improving mental well-being.
