Love Yourself! - Get support to successfully quit smoking on National No Smoking Day

HSE/SECH Media Release
14 February, 2024

For just the third time in 80 years, Ash Wednesday and St. Valentine’s Day coincide and it also happens to be National No Smoking Day today 14th of February, 2024.

As an act of love upon the day that is in it, the HSE is encouraging tobacco users to quit smoking and to get help and support from a trained professional to do so.

There are now FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapies (e.g. patches, gum) available as supports to anyone who joins the HSE’s “Quit” programme.

The HSE Stop Smoking Service across counties Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford is there to help with free one-to-one support and advice. To find out more about the service or to make an appointment to see one of the HSE’s Stop Smoking Advisors or to sign up for FREE stop smoking support (including NRT) in counties Carlow Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford, e-mail SouthEastStopSmokingSupport@hse.ie or phone 1800 201 203.

HSE Stop Smoking Advisers will be on hand today, as part of the “Love Yourself! - Get support to successfully quit smoking on National No Smoking Day” campaign, with promotional stands in Primary Care Centres in Carlow (Shamrock Plaza), Ferrybank and John’s Hill (Waterford) and Enniscorthy (as part of the Open Day by the HSE’s Integrated Cardiology Service for Wexford) and at the Library in Clonmel and Family Resource Centres at the Sacred Heart (Waterford) and Newpark (Kilkenny).
