Inside Ballyshannon’s Primary Care Centre

Primary Care centres provide integrated care in communities all over Ireland.

This former convent building in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal has been renovated and repurposed to meet the primary care needs of the South Donegal people. There are five GP surgeries, rooms for visiting clinicians and specialists as well as a public health management clinic. The building also provides chiropody, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dental treatment, ophthalmology, speech and language therapy, orthopaedics and X-ray services.

There are also some specialist services provided by the primary care team such as a continence service, dietetics and a mental health service including counselling on-site.

This state-of-the-art primary care centre combines an impressive list of services for the catchment area as well as many of the HSE’s administrative and developmental departments.
