To ask the Minister for Health if she will urgently review the guidelines for the treatment abroad scheme; if she is aware that the level of support through this scheme is currently very limited (The scheme does not at present cover checked bags on flights, transfers such as taxis, buses, trains to the treating hospital. Also overnight stays are not covered, this can sometimes be unavoidable for a patient, dependant on the hospital admission time.); if she agrees that measures such as those outlined should be included as refundable costs given their unavoidable nature.
