The governance of the National Clinical Programme for Epilepsy consists of two supervisory groups:
A project group
The project group was convened in April 2010. Initially the project group consists of: A National Clinical Lead who is a consultant neurologist with special training in epilepsy, a National Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in epilepsy care, an assistant Director of Nursing (workforce planning), a Public Heath Consultant, General Practitioner and a Programme Manager. Membership of the core project group continues to evolve in line with stage of advancement of particular aims and objectives of the programme. Membership can also be expanded dependent on particular workstreams/projects undertaken by the programme.
A Clinical Advisory Group (CAG)
The clinical advisory group was first convened in May 2010. This group consists of all members of the project group in addition to: all consultant neurologists with specific training in epilepsy care, two consultant neurophysiologists, a neuropsychologist, a chief clinical measurement scientist and a representative of the national patient organization (Epilepsy Ireland), a physician with special training in intellectual disability and a medical physicist / health informatics specialist.
