Primary Childhood Immunisation Programme (PCI)

The HSE is implementing a National Immunisation Information System (NIIS), which is based on the CoVax vaccination platform already used for the recording of COVID-19, Influenza and Pneumococcal vaccines.

Planning is underway for the Primary Childhood Immunisation Programme (PCI) to be integrated into the National Immunisation Information System. This means that PCI records that are entered into an accredited GP Practice Management System (PMS) or GPVax will automatically transfer to NIIS, reducing the need for paper-based vaccination returns.

From Go Live date 2025, records for vaccines administered to children born on or after 1st October 2025 and entered into an accredited GP PMS/GPVax will be automatically uploaded into both NIIS and PCRS, and payments will be processed and paid through PCRS.
