Skills for Facilitating SPHE

The aim of this training is to help post-primary teachers build the skills, confidence and attitudes they need to teach Junior Cycle SPHE effectively.

 During the training, participants will:

  • examine the latest HSE SPHE resources (units of learning) for Junior Cycle
  • learn how to create a safe, respectful and engaging classroom environment
  • Use a variety of teaching and learning methods that support strong SPHE learning
  • develop facilitation skills that help students build the behaviours, attitudes and values that support their wellbeing

Please note that this training does not cover how much time should be given to SPHE or how to plan and assess SPHE under the new 2023 specification. These topics are covered in the course “An Introduction to the updated Specification for the NCCA Short Course in SPHE (2023)” provided by Oide. For dates and details, visit www.oide.ie.
