The National Office for Human Rights and Equality Policy in the National Quality Improvement Team was established to support health and social care services to prepare for the commencement of the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 and to oversee the revision and implementation and the HSE National Consent Policy. It also manages a number of other equality and human rights issues including oversight of guidance on Do not attempt resuscitation (DNAR), issues pertaining to universal access to health and social care services, access of transgender and intersex people to mainstream healthcare and the co-ordination of guidance on wardship.
The 2020 autumn webinar series will focus on Consent and Assisted Decision Making. Sessions will examine what is valid and informed consent, provide detailed guidance on supported decision making, will explore the application of consent in pregnancy and maternity services and will consider the role of advocacy in supporting decision making.
The webinars are aimed at healthcare workers, staff working in acute hospitals, staff working in residential services including older people, people with disabilities, community hospitals and mental health services, National Ambulance Service staff, staff working in General Practice, staff working in people's homes, advocates, families and NGO's.
