Blood Tests: Assessment of Dementia

FBC, ESR, U&E, TFTs, Glucose, Lipids, Calcium & B12:

• to detect co-morbid conditions such as anaemia due to B12 deficiency or renal disease
• to exclude reversible causes (e.g. hypothyroidism).

Syphilis serology and HIV testing is not routinely recommended, unless patients are considered at risk.
