National 2 Day Programme: Enhancing and Enabling Well-Being for the Person Living with Dementia

 

Brief description

This programme aims to enhance quality of life for the person living with dementia. This programme will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to enable a person centred approach to supporting the person living with dementia and their family. Topics covered include:

  • Challenging beliefs and attitudes to dementia
  • Dementia and a human rights approach

  • Person centred communication

  • Partnership in dementia care 

  • Creating dementia friendly environments

  • Non-cognitive symptoms 

  • Palliative care and the person living with dementia

  • Nutrition and dementia

Target Audience

All staff working in residential and community care settings that may come into contact with a person living with dementia and their family. There is a bespoke national acute dementia education programme, however, some acute hospitals also deliver the 2 day programme.
