Bipolar Disorder Support Group

Who can go to this programme?

People who have Bipolar Affective Disorder (also known as manic depression) who attend Dublin West and South West Mental Health Services.

How can this programme help me?

You can meet others with a similar illness, feel you are not alone, listen learn and share with others and see how they are getting on.

How can I get on this programme?

Word of mouth (self-referral), nurse or psychiatrist, and staff in the community mental health team can make a referral. You must be mentally stable at time of attending.

When does this programme take place?

Second Monday of every month for one hour between 6 and 7 pm.

Who runs this programme?

Everybody in the group plays a role. It is facilitated by one of the nurses. The group have certain ground rules such as confidentiality and switching off mobile phones for the duration of the group.

No

Do I have to talk at the group?

Only if you wish.
