Recovery Education is an educational response to mental health challenges and the recovery needs of service users, family members, and health professionals and describes learning experiences that focus on personal narratives and relationships.
Recovery Education offers a different way of approaching mental health support and promotion, where recovery-focused therapeutic approaches are enhanced and supported through education and adult learning
The National Office of Mental Health Engagement and Recovery has been championing Recovery Education Services and Recovery Colleges since 2014.
Recovery Education is a key objective for the Mental Health service and is a significant indicator of Recovery practice.
Recovery education takes a strength and adult education-based approach which offers the choice to engage in learning opportunities. It is an educational response to mental health challenges and the recovery needs of service users, family members, and health professionals.
Recovery education is a pivotal component in the transformation of mental health services and supports the adoption of recovery concepts and approaches.

Recovery Principles and Practice (4 Continuous Professional Development Credits)
The coproduced Recovery Principles and Practice Workshop provides an opportunity to explore the recovery approach in Mental Health Services, and how this is supported through the National Framework for Recovery in mental health 2024-2028 and “Sharing the Vision- a mental health policy for all”. This in person workshop is for all staff, disciplines and management working across the continuum of HSE Mental Health Services.  The interactive style of the workshop encourages participants to reflect and engage in discussions to support enhanced recovery approaches in all work and practice and to further develop a whole service approach to recovery. Co-facilitated workshops reflect true partnership, collaboration and co-production from the perspective of the lived experience, Family Member/Carer/Supporter and Service Provider. The workshop is available through local Recovery Education Colleges and Recovery Education Services. The workshop supports the implementation of Recommendation 29 within Sharing the Vision”,
“Further training and support should be put in place to embed a recovery ethos among mental health professionals working in the CMHTs as well as those delivering services elsewhere in the continuum of services.”
