Minister for Health announces development of a new National Rare Disease Strategy

The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly has announced the development of a new National Rare Disease Strategy for Ireland. Professor Cecily Kelleher has been appointed as Chair of the new National Rare Disease Plan Steering Committee and it is expected that the new plan will be launched in Autumn 2024 which will set out the vision for rare disease services in Ireland and the actions required to achieve this. Patient and carers impacted by rare diseases will also be central to the development of the new Strategy, and a Patient Forum will be an integral part of the development of a New National Rare Disease Strategy for Ireland.
