We have procedures in place if you want to make a complaint about the Assessment of Need or service statement.
You can use these procedures if:
- the assessment officer determines that you or your child does not have a disability
- the assessment was not started or completed within the given time-frames
- you believe the assessment was not carried out in line with the standards for assessment
- you believe that the content of the service statement is inaccurate or incorrect
- you or your child does not get a service that is listed in the service statement

The complaints officer may be able to help reach a resolution. They will look at your complaint objectively and fairly.

Appealing the outcome of your complaint
You may appeal to the Disability Appeals Officer if it relates to either:
- a finding or recommendation made by the Assessment of Need Complaints Officer
- a recommendation made by the Assessment of Need Complaints Officer that we or an education provider have not implemented

Circuit Court order
If recommendations made are not implemented within 3 months of the Disability Complaint Officer's report date, you may apply to the Circuit Court for an enforcement order.
An enforcement order means the recommendations must be put in place.
The legal process can be complex. You may wish to get help with this application.
