My husband and I attended the radiology clinic as we were in the waiting area a guy called hubby's name, came over and said 'Hi I'm Seamus, I'm a nurse and I'll be looking after you'. I know we talk about it all the time as part of the hello my name is campaign and as part of Values in Action but the assurance both hubby and I got from this simple behaviour had a really positive effect on both of us. It made me instantly at ease and afterwards hubby said it eased some of his anxiety straight away.
Bravo to Seamus, living our values and putting patients at ease - not to mention patient's wives.
