The Ophthalmic Department has 4 distinct areas:

We provide elective surgical services Monday-Friday including, but not limited to:

Many ophthalmic procedures are now done as same-day surgeries and are admitted and cared for on Ward 2B. We aim to Pre-Assess as many of these patients as possible (see Link on ophthamology Pre-Assessment)
All ophthalmic emergencies are seen by the on-call ophthalmic doctor and admitted, if necessary, directly to Ward 2B, which is on the first floor of the main hospital block
We also perform intravitreal injection treatments for age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy, in conjunction with screening which in done in the Out-Patient’s Department, as well as medical laser procedures
