The Health Services Executive (HSE) on behalf of health services is carrying out a research study to assess/learn about staff experience during COVID-19 in order to inform what process and practices worked well and the changes and innovations that can be maintained into the future.
This research involves two stages;
1) An on line survey during July 2020
2) Focus groups/Learning Events September 2020.
Participation in this survey is voluntary and responses will remain anonymous and strictly confidential. In order to conduct the survey, the HSE have partnered with Core Research, an independent market research company who are bound by a strict code of conduct not to identify individual responses which guarantees complete confidentiality. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

In response to the Staff Survey 2018 results
On the 11th of June 2019, "Engaging Health Staff - An Action Plan 2019 - 2021" was launched by Director General of the HSE, Paul Reid. This action plan is a response to the findings of the 2018 Staff Survey and sets out the HSE's Staff Engagement vision for the coming years. A detailed action plan relating to the staff engagement indicators from the survey provides the reader with evidence-based actions to target these indicators along with useful resources and tools that will help to implement the related actions. Staff and managers throughout the HSE are encouraged to tailor this action plan to the Staff Survey results of their department, area or region. Reflection of Common Themes between the National Patient Experience Survey and the Your Opinion Counts Staff Survey 2018
Private sector research has long demonstrated that there is a relationship between staff experience and customer satisfaction. Research into this relationship in health sectors has lagged in comparison but has in recent times started to emerge. In 2016, an analysis of themes between the 2016 Your Opinion Counts staff survey and the 2017 patient experience survey indicated that there is a relationship between staff and patient experience. Advancing on that work, common themes where extracted and analysed for the more recent staff and patient surveys further highlighting how this relationship impacts on patient care in Irish Health Services.
