The model this year is for Community Pharmacists, GPs and HSE vaccination teams to offer LAIV in local primary school settings.
The HSE are encouraging GPs and Community Pharmacists planning to engage in the LAIV Schools Programme, to reach out to mainstream primary schools to explore if they would be interested in offering LAIV on-site, to all children in all class groups in each participating school.
Please provide the HSE with details of the schools where it has been agreed to offer LAIV on-site during the autumn programme, using the LAIV Schools Templates:
Vaccines should be ordered online (www.ordervaccines.ie) from the HSE National Cold Chain Service (NCCS) as per delivery calendar and before cut-off time.
As per NIO.03.09.25.01, Stock allocation will be split across delivery cycles to manage short expiry dates and optimise stock management across the campaign.
Based on previous influenza season vaccination activity and returned notification forms to the HSE of planned primary schools vaccination clinics, up to 75% of Fluenz nasal spray suspension (LAIV) allocation, is available to order for delivery in the first cycle. The remainder of the allocation will be available to order from end-October onwards. Please plan your visits to schools with these timelines.
For queries regarding LAIV stock please contact National Cold Chain Service, Email: vaccines@udd.ie.
