Residents, their visiting family members and HSE staff recently enjoyed a garden party on the grounds of New Haughton Hospital in New Ross.
A marquee had been hired for the occasion but attendees were delighted that so much of the occasion, amid beautiful sunshine, proceeded outdoors in the garden of the residential care centre.
A highlight in the calendar of the New Haughton, this event was eagerly awaited by the residents, their family and friends and staff members alike. Musical and dancing entertainment featured on the day and there was lots of singing, games, food and fun had by all. The purple and gold balloon arch for attendees to walk through was a big hit!
Speaking at the garden party, Sonia Samson (Asst. Director of Nursing, New Haughton Hospital) said:
“The New Haughton Hospital has an excellent reputation as a care facility. Along with Director of Nursing Margaret Nowlan O’ Neill and our team here, we are deeply appreciative of the great support we get from the community in New Ross and its environs in counties Wexford, South Kilkenny and some of Carlow.”
“With food for the occasion prepared by our catering staff and colleagues lining up so many more treats and on the day for our residents, our garden party is an important fixture in the life of this residential care centre and we were delighted to host this year’s most enjoyable event.”
“Of course, visitors are into us every day of the week at the New Haughton. The garden party was an opportunity, however, to have an ‘open house’ atmosphere for the afternoon. We chatted about the work we do as a 42 bed facility (38 long stay and four respite) in care for the older person.”
