HSE Dublin and South East Pays Tribute Following the Passing of “Sister Stan”

The HSE is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sr. Stanislaus Kennedy.

Martina Queally, Regional Executive Officer of the HSE Dublin and South East Health Region, expressed great appreciation for Sister Stan’s immense contribution to Irish society.

Paying tribute, Martina Queally said:

“Sr. Stanislaus Kennedy worked tirelessly and admirably throughout her life to support the homeless, immigrants, and those in disadvantaged communities across Ireland and beyond.”

“She will be fondly remembered for the 20 years she spent with the Sisters of Charity in Kilkenny. During that time, Sr. Stanislaus helped establish a social services network in the area, including a ‘meals on wheels’ service for the elderly – said to be one of the first of its kind in the country.”

“In 1970, Sr. Stanislaus was appointed by the Minister for Health to the newly established South Eastern Health Board. Over the following 12 years, her contribution was invaluable in overseeing and advising on the development of health and social care services in Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford, and South Tipperary.”

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Sr. Stanislaus Kennedy, to the Sisters of Charity, and to the many friends and lives she touched for the better.”
