A Positive and Practical Course for Parents of Children aged 5 to 11 years Parents play a key role in helping their children develop and grow up well.
Yet parenting can sometimes feel like a difficult job and everyone needs support and help at times. This course hopes to help you:
- Solve parenting problems in a positive way
- Manage difficult behaviour and discipline problems
- Develop a close and warm relationship with your children and enjoy being their parent.
The course does not propose to offer magic answers but hopes to help parents find down-to-earth solutions for difficult situations and experience the support of other parents.
The course is being run by the HSE Dublin South Psychology services and will be delivered by Aisling White, Principal Psychologist Manager and other members of the psychology service. It consists of eight workshops.
Each workshop focuses on a positive parenting and positive discipline idea. To sign up for the course you must be able to attend all workshops.
Who is it for?
The course is open to anyone living in our catchment area and who is in a parenting role with primary school age children and interested in developing their parenting skills. Where possible we recommend that both parents attend the course as we have found this helps the child and family the most. If you are a single parent please feel free to bring along another supportive family member.

Evening courses: Usually held in Dun Laoghaire
