The Unit receives referrals from outpatients, inpatients, private rooms, GP referrals and other hospitals. The Unit runs a direct access service where GPs directly refer to the service.
GP Referral Procedures
Louth Hospital’s Endoscopy Units have introduced the ‘Endoscopy E-Referral System’ via Healthlink. All GPs can now easily access and refer their patients electronically for Endoscopy (OGD, Colonoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy/Left Colonoscopy).
In order to facilitate timely triage we would ask that as much relevant information is enclosed including previous endoscopies/GI OPD appointments/breath tests/GI surgeries, family history of GI cancer, IBD, Coeliac disease and medications/allergies and health insurance
