Serology/Immunology Department

The Immunology Laboratory provides the following services:

  • Assists in the investigation of patients with a variety of autoimmune disease, e.g. the wide spectrum of rheumatoid, liver and renal autoimmune diseases.
  • Investigates for the presence of antibody/antigen in infective diseases such as  H.pylori and Norovirus.
  • Screens for a specific IgE reaction to a number of common allergens.

Results and Enquiries

Results will be available for viewing on wards (on Laboratory Information System, KEPLER) following authorisation by the laboratory staff and to GPs via Healthlink.

Printed reports will be issued daily from the laboratory and delivered to LUH and specific requesting external locations.

 

External Quality Assurance Schemes

The Serology / Immunology laboratory participates in relevant external third party assurance schemes.

This includes schemes operated by:

  • UKNEQAS (UK, National External Quality Assurance Scheme)
  • IEQAS (Irish External Quality Assurance Scheme)
