Planning Permission Approved for Donegal Hospice Extension and refurbishment project

The Donegal Hospice Board CLG (Company Limited by Guarantee) and the HSE are delighted to confirm that planning permission has been approved for an extension and refurbishment to the current Donegal Hospice facility at Knocknamona, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.

The proposed development includes the construction of four new apartments.  These additional apartments will accommodate patients and their families, offering a supportive and compassionate environment during their time at the hospice.  Also included in the development is the provision of additional rooms for example, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Social Work, as well as training and educational facilities. The proposed development also aims to enhance and modernise the existing building, bringing it up to the highest standards for the care and comfort of patients and their families.

Speaking about the planning application approval, Isobell Rodgers, Chairperson of the Donegal Hospice Board said, We are so excited to be at this stage of the development of our new Hospice In-patient Unit.  We thank the HSE for partnering with us on this development which will benefit everyone in Donegal who requires services in the coming years.

I would like to acknowledge and thank the public for ensuring over the years, that we always had the required funds to grow and develop our services. We are now delighted to give back by providing them with this wonderful state-of-the-art development.”

The expansion of the Donegal Hospice service is a significant milestone in ensuring the provision of exemplary end-of-life care in the local community.
