Successful Steps to a Healthy Heart Information Evening in Sligo

A large crowd attended a special event marking World Heart Day in Sligo last week.

World Heart Day is celebrated around the world in September each year. This year, a free information evening organised by the Integrated Care Cardiology Team from the Benbulbin Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Hub Sligo for the public was attended by over three hundred people.

The event, which took place on Tuesday 26th September in the Clayton Hotel, Sligo, was to shed light on the importance of the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

The aim of this information evening was to bring awareness to members of the public supporting them to identify individual risk factors and facilitate better choices for their health.

MC for the evening was Suzanne Keenan, Operations Lead, Chronic Disease Management, Ballytivnan, Sligo. There was a wide array of Speakers on the evening who covered relevant areas, in the management of cardiovascular disease. These included:

Emma Ball, General Manager, Primary Care, Sligo said, “There was very positive feedback from the evening with one individual stating, ‘We got so much helpful information, it was well worth coming.’  “Another found that the ‘talks were very simple and there was no medical jargon’.  Another attendee described it as a very enjoyable evening, with a good choice of speakers who were easy to understand.”
