Where are We?
The Finance Department has two offices.

The Payroll, Accounts Payable and Cost/Management Accounting sections are located in “Unit 1”, the outlying building on your immediate left hand side as you enter the hospital grounds by the main entrance.

The Accounts Receivable (Patient Accounts) section and the office of the Finance Manager are located in the Administration Block adjacent to the hospital’s main foyer.

We provide comprehensive financial management and accounting services which support the planning, management and delivery of the hospital’s service and operational strategies within a framework of strong financial control and accountability

Patient Accounts Department

On entering the main hospital entrance, go left past the reception desk.  The Patient Accounts Department is located to the left just inside the administration area between the reception desk and the café.

Payment Options

Payment accepted by cash, cheque, postal order, Visa, Mastercard or Laser. 

Payment can be made directly at the Patient Accounts Office, via the post or over the phone by credit card/laser. Please quote your hospital reference number on all correspondence.

You are also advised to obtain a receipt for all payments.

Private Health Insurance

University Hospital Waterford has a direct payment arrangement with the private health insurers V.H.I., Quinn Healthcare and Hibernian Health. This arrangement enables accounts due by members of any of these insurance schemes for both in-patient and day-case admissions to be settled directly by the hospital with the insurer. 

Settlement in this way will require patients to provide their health insurance details on admission or, if possible, to present a completed insurance claim form. In the event that the insurance form cannot be completed on presenting for admission a form can be obtained by approaching a member of staff on the ward.

Medical Card Holders

Medical card holders are also advised to present the card on registration / admission.

Patient Property

Please do not bring valuables or large amounts of money when attending the hospital.  The hospital cannot accept liability for your personal belongings.
