Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

In Cognitive Analytic Therapy, we work with you to identify chains of events, thoughts, emotions and motivations that explain how your specific mental health difficulties are established and maintained.

Who is this Therapy for?
People with depression, eating disorders or borderline personality disorder.

How do I get this Therapy?
Your consultant Psychiatrist can refer you.

What does it involve?
You attend an initial assessment to discuss CAT Therapy. You also complete CORE and BDI assessments at each session. 

How long does it last?
16 to 24 sessions, one a week, each lasting about 50 minutes.

What days does it run?
This is agreed between you and your Therapist.

Who provides this Therapy?
Your Local Mental Health Team may offer it.

Is there a waiting time?
Waiting times vary depending on your area and may be up to 6 months.
