The Psychiatry of Later Life Team provides specialist mental health services to people over sixty five who are coming to the service for the first time. We work in partnership with local GPs, hospitals and other local health care and social services
We run many different types of services. We provide assessment and treatment in different ways depending on what the problem is and how severe or complicated it is. It’s normal for people to move from one service area to another depending on what difficulties they need to address at the time.
All our clients are individually assessed and a range of interventions are offered based on their needs. An emphasis is placed on connecting the individuals with services available in their community. We engage in psycho education, anxiety management, concordance therapy, information about medication, and we have groups facilitated by an artist
Services to Support Carers and Families
We liaise closely with the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland, Carer’s Groups. Members of our Multi-Disciplinary Team also work closely with families in the community.
