Recovery Education

Recovery Education is an educational response to mental health challenges and the recovery needs of service users, family members, and health professionals and describes learning experiences that focus on personal narratives and relationships.

Recovery Education offers a different way of approaching mental health support and promotion, where recovery-focused therapeutic approaches are enhanced and supported through education and adult learning

The National Office of Mental Health Engagement and Recovery has been championing Recovery Education Services and Recovery Colleges since 2014.

Recovery Education is a key objective for the Mental Health service and is a significant indicator of Recovery practice.

Recovery education takes a strength and adult education-based approach which offers the choice to engage in learning opportunities. It is an educational response to mental health challenges and the recovery needs of service users, family members, and health professionals.

Recovery education is a pivotal component in the transformation of mental health services and supports the adoption of recovery concepts and approaches.
