Work streams include:
- Glossary of Terms
- Support the implementation of the QA&I collaborative with Palliative Care services nationally
- Recommendations to QID on Palliative Care inclusions into the revision of the National Healthcare Charter
- Engagement with HSE & DOH and key strategic partners regarding collaboration in order to deliver the aim of the NCPPC
Finance
- ensuring adequate funds for health are available. There are incentives for providers and users to be efficient.
Work streams include:

Health Workforce
- Sufficient staff which are fairly distributed; they are competent, responsive and productive.
Work streams include:
- Medical Workforce planning
- Nursing Workforce planning
- Model of Care for Palliative Care
Service Delivery
- Effective, safe, quality health interventions to those that need them, when and where needed, with minimum waste of resources.
Work streams include:
- Palliative Care Needs Assessment Phase II demonstrator project in the North West
- Piloting a telementoring educational support from Specialist Palliative Care to Nursing Homes (Project Echo)
Information
- The production, analysis, dissemination and use of reliable and timely information on health determinants, health system performance and health status is ensured.
Work streams include:
- Strengthening existing data collection and metrics
- Developing new performance metrics
Medical products
- Equitable access to essential medical products and technologies of assured quality, safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness; their scientifically sound and cost-effective use is ensured.
Work streams include:
- Supporting the implementation for Clinical Guidelines for Management of Cancer Pain in Adults & Management of Constipation in Adult Palliative Care Patients
- Clinical Guidelines for Care of the Dying Adult in the last days of Life
