National Forensic Mental Health Service

All personal visits are currently closed to patients until further notice.

The Central Mental Hospital is currently located in Dundrum, Dublin and provides a range of forensic mental health services to its patients. This service will be moving to a new site in Portrane in 2022.

The National Forensic Mental Health Service (NFMHS) is a new state-of-the-art facility located 22km from Dublin City in Portrane Demesne, Portrane, Co. Dublin, K36 FD79.

The new facility can provide care for up to 170 patients in the Portrane facility and will continue to provide community and prison in-reach services. The NFHMS Portrane will also have a Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (FCAMHS) Unit and Intensive Care Rehabilitation Unit (ICRU).
