Physiotherapy Service for Children

What is Physiotherapy for Children

Paediatric physiotherapy focuses on helping children with musculoskeletal conditions or children experiencing delay’s in developing gross motor skills achieve their optimal physical development.

Advancing the quality of movement and body postures as well promotion of age appropriate gross motor development provides children with greater opportunity to participate in activities with their peers in the school, home and community environments.

Paediatric physiotherapists have specialist knowledge in movement, physical development and conditions that are likely to affect the growing child.

Who we see

  • Children living in HSE Dublin North West (Dublin 7, Dublin 11, Dublin 15)
  • Children who are experiencing delay’s in achieving age appropriate gross motor skills
  • Children who require assessment of infant conditions such as plagiocephaly, torticollis or talipes
  • Children who require screening of their gait, lower limb alignment or foot posture
  • Children who require assessment of musculoskeletal conditions

If your child is attending or on a waiting list for the Children’s Network Disability Team, it has been determined that an interdisciplinary team-based service best suits your child’s needs and they will not be seen in Primary Care.
