The UHW mortuary acts both as a mortuary for University Hospital Waterford and also acts as the regional centre for all post-mortem examinations in the South East. The mortuary suite is a state of the art mortuary (opened in 2022) and provides a dignified and compassionate service both for the deceased and the bereaved. The mortuary staff liaise with bereaved relatives, undertakers, Coroners and Gardai to ensure all necessary arrangements are put in place as soon as possible so that the deceased person(s) can be returned to their families in a timely fashion.
