National Employment Record (NER) Portal Account
Congratulations on your successful application to Intern Training with the HSE.
All Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs), including incoming Interns, are required to register and create a secure personal National Employment Record (NER) Portal Account.
Using the NER portal will allow the intern to interact virtually with the Medical Human Resources (HR) and Occupational Health Departments in their place of employment.
The system allows the intern to complete the mandatory NER Hire Form online and Occupational Health Form (OHF), upload mandatory documents and certificates and submit these to Medical HR for verification, e.g. BLS/ALS, Hand Hygiene, passport, Immunisation status, etc. The intern will also receive an email reminder when their documents are nearing expiry.
Interns will also be able to access the financial supports section within their NER Portal account.

You may have already been issued your Irish Medical Council (IMC) registration number, however, they may have yet to be activated by the IMC. Unfortunately, until these numbers are activated, they will not be recognised by the NER system and are usually only activated by the IMC the date you commence employment.
When creating your NER Account, please ensure select the Option 2 ‘I am an Intern who has not yet received their Medical Council registration number’ (see screenshot below) on the Register New Account home screen and choose your first rotation as your Clinical Site. If you will be based in a General Practice for your first rotation, please select the main hospital rotation as your Clinical Site when registering.
This option will allow you to proceed and upload your mandatory hire form, pre-employment health questionnaire, mandatory training documents and all other required documentation.

Please ensure to update your NER Account with your medical council registration number once it has been activated by the IMC which is usually the date you commence employment. Please DO NOT register another account.
