Secondary Care
In Community Healthcare East (CHE) there are 3 Diabetes Day Centres: St. Vincent’s University Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital and St. Columcille’s Hospital. Historically these centres managed the care of all people with diabetes. Today they continue to care for people with Type 1 diabetes whilst caring for Type 2 diabetes that is classified as complicated.
Some people with complicated Type 2 diabetes may be managed in an integrated fashion by the person’s GP, supported by one of the 3 community Diabetes Nurse Specialists (DNSs).
