Ova & Parasites (microscopy)

  • Test Name: Ova & Parasites (microscopy)
  • Laboratory: Microbiology
  • Specimen Type: Faeces, Urine, Sellotape slide, Jejunal aspirate.
  • Specimen Container: Sterile universal container with/without a spoon.
  • Specimen Volume: Faeces 1-2g (spoonful). At least 10ml urine. At least 1ml of fluid.
  • Specimen Requirements: Urine for Schistosoma haematobium - collect total urine between 10am and 2pm and send to the laboratory.
  • Other details: Failure to supply relevant clinical details with requests for Ova & Parasites will result in non-processing of specimens.
