Urinary Antigen Testing (Legionella and Streptococcus
pneumoniae)

  • Test Name: Urinary Antigen Testing (Legionella pneumophilia and Streptococcus pneumoniae)

  • Specimen Container: Sterile universal container.
  • Specimen Volume: Fill to dotted line if possible on Boric Acid containers. At least 2ml urine if possible.

  • Other details: Legionella urinary antigen requests- all requests from ICU/HDU/Medical 4/haematology/oncology patients, patient labelled with febrile neutropenia or specimen from a patient aged 17 or younger Legionella urinary antigens are automatically performed. Outside of this Legionella urinary antigen will only be performed if appropriate clinical details are provided on request form.
