Notice re NCCP advice for Medical Professionals on the management of patients undergoing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (chemotherapy) in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

As of 23/05/2023, the guidance document ‘NCCP advice for Medical Professionals on the management of patients undergoing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (chemotherapy) in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic’ has been retired. Healthcare professionals in all settings are advised to follow the COVID-19 guidance available via the HPSC, HSE and Department of Health websites.

As per HSE AMRIC guidance for implementation from 19/04/2023, the requirement for universal use of facemasks by healthcare workers, patients and visitors in healthcare settings has been removed, outside of periods of high levels of community transmission of COVID-19.

Guidance should be interpreted and applied locally in a context-specific manner, guided by a risk assessment approach, to include consideration of the local epidemiological situation with regard to COVID-19. Guidance is not a substitute for clinical judgement. As such, application of the guidance, and associated infection prevention and control measures, may vary between healthcare settings.
